Update: In early December approval has been obtained to conduct Stage 3 of the Cultural Heritage Management Plan which should be complete by the end of January 2012. This is the final report needed before detailed planning can begin on the Airpark and planned runway extension.

Mount Beauty township is nestled at the southern tip of the beautiful Kiewa Valley in Victoria's North East, and is the gateway to the Bogong High Plains, Falls Creek ski resort and the pristine Alpine National Park with it's many wild rivers and waterfalls.

Mt Bogong, Victoria's highest mountain at 1,986 m (6,516 ft), translates to "big fella" in the local Aboriginal language, and towers over Mount Beauty and the Kiewa Valley below.

The area abounds with outdoor activities including fishing, golf, hiking, canoeing, cycling, tennis, skiing, and horse riding. For something more relaxing, you could immerse yourself in the local wineries, cafes, renowned bakeries and restaurants.

Historic Bright is only a 30km drive over the scenic Tawonga Gap, and Melbourne is just a 125nm flight away.

Mount Beauty Airport is home to an active gliding club and more light aircraft pilots are being attracted to the area because of the numerous activities available outside of aviation.

Mount Beauty Airpark will be located to take advantage of everything this beautiful area has to offer.
